“It is an exciting time to be in the on-demand transportation industry. I see a lot of potential for growth – for our partners, our clients and DDS Wireless alike. I believe without a doubt, the team at DDS can bring transportation technology to the frontier it needs to be.”
At DDS, we’re re-envisioning transportation in the 21st century
DDS Wireless International Inc. was founded in 1987 as Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. and was renamed to its present name after the acquisitions of Stratagen Systems Inc. and MobiSoft Oy in 2008 to better represent the diverse and global nature of our business. From November 2003 to June 2014 DDS was listed on the Toronto Stock exchange but is now a private company.
DDS was founded by Vari Ghai, our current owner and Chairman, when he bought the rights to the IPR related to taxi dispatch software from Motorola Inc. DDS then further developed and enhanced the product to create TaxiTrack, a computerized taxi dispatching system. In 1992, DDS bought Kustom Electronics Ltd. based in Kansas, which designed and manufactured in-vehicle mobile data terminals (MDTs). This allowed DDS to transition from purely a software company to an integrated software and hardware company. In 1999, the acquisition of the Transportation division of MDSI based in the Cambridge, UK allowed DDS to progress from North American markets to Europe and Asia. The acquisition of MobiSoft in Finland and Seattle based StrataGen Systems allowed DDS to enter the Transit market.
Our mission is to connect paratransit, taxi and all other transportation services through innovative fleet management solutions to help passengers reach their destination as quickly, easily and safely as possible.
DDS is a global, diversified company based in Canada with offices in US, Finland, UK and Sweden from where it designs and supplies SaaS based solutions to the Taxi, Transit and Limo markets. DDS currently provides solutions such as PathFinder, TaxiBook, Adept and the mSlate. DDS boasts its patented ‘routing & scheduling’ and ‘closest cab dispatch’ algorithms as the best in the industry and is the leader in integrated solutions by providing both hardware and software.
