Mobile Application Development Manager – Richmond, BC
Drive the technical direction of our offerings and solutions. Build hands-on experience with many different technologies and delivery methodologies.
Design, code, troubleshoot and support (What you create is also what you and your team will own).
Manage and mentor engineers of all levels (and co-op students) to assist in the growth of the engineering team. Help to define and influence the culture & environment.
Work in a fast-paced, agile project environment with highly skilled teams, including coordinating with remote teams.
Take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project. Communicates with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
Responsible for software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Drive bug prioritization and work cross-functionally with engineering/design.
Provide technical support to internal team members.
Host and manage internal company test sessions.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of professional experience in software development.
- 2+ years of lead architecture and design experience in an engineering, development or technology role.
- 3+ years of Software Engineering Management
Extensive background in microservices architecture and enterprise cloud architecture, including experience with AWS.
Understand REST API fundamental and prior experience with API design. Knowing Swagger is a plus.
Experience with relational databases such as Postgres. Experience with Redis is a plus.
Experience with building a CI/CD pipeline with automated testing frameworks.
Experience writing unit and system level tests using dependency injection frameworks and object mocking.
Experience with both native and cross-platform mobile application development.
Familiar with responsive design and client-side architecture.
Strong object-oriented design skills and understanding in common design paradigms.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to explain technical details and challenges to a wide variety of audiences (including executive leadership).
Ability to look at solutions in creative and unconventional ways, recognize opportunities to innovate, and engage partners in a vision and strategy.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment.
Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly.
